My educational philosophy includes practicing community building, collaboration, mindfulness, culturally relevant, and social-emotional learning in the classroom. My belief is that when we, as educators, are capable of practicing these, we are able to fully prioritize understanding our youth and where they are coming from. I foster a youth-centered space where our youth are able to have more choice in their learning. Creating curriculum that is relevant to the cultures of the youth in the space, so they can create more personal ties to art. My teaching practice is influenced by the work of Reggio Emilia, which includes implementing the importance of representing life through play and nature-based learning. Incorporating mindfulness and joy in the classroom contributes to the well-being of each individual.
